When you put these two different products side by side, the Maybelline 10 hour stay, and Mar Kay’s Super stain, th ey are almost identical on every aspect of their ad.The difference in the product is only what the product does in terms of long lasting shine or 10 hour stay formula, and also the only other difference would be the companies that make them and the different looking bottles that they come in. Both are trying to sell their new type of lip gloss, both have a beautiful model modeling their lip gloss, both stated the positive side of the lip gloss, and both didn’t say anything negative or the side effects of taking their product.If myself was to go out and buy lip gloss I would be undecided on the quality of Mary Kay vs. Maybelline’s lip gloss, but the only thing keeping me from spending my money, sit the price of beauty. The external aspect that would draw me more toward one or the other product would have to be the healthier lip gloss that has the â€Å"good for you ingredients†, because nobody wants to put things on themselves that makes their lips feel like they are being dragged down by so much lip gloss.

Numerous studies have attempted to pinpoint the exact reasons for failure in order to develop solutions that counteract these problems, boosting success rates and developing strategies to avoid failure (Hall and Yeaton, 2008).In my experience, many multi- and trans- national companies put people on an expatriate assignment with little expectation other than they become acclimatized to the uniqueness of the local market. Especially in the Asia-Pacific region, I have seen many expats ‘pay their dues' on their way up the corporate ladder, but personally view their time abroad as an extended, company paid vacation. Could it be that companies see the long term value of this cross-cultural exposure has value well beyond any immediate performance during the expat assignment?Kraft's strategy for future global growth involves a limited num ber of markets and products and focuses on going only where management believes the company can win a market share. How does this strategy align with Irene Rosenfeld's restructuring plan? The restructuring described in the text certainly does appear reflect a strategy to focus on a portfolio including fewer product categories and markets. The worldwide restructuring includes encouraging mature market growth in addition to emerging markets where larger growth may be possible.In a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, Rosenfeld noted 2008 figures of 3% growth in Europe, 5% in the US, and 28% in emerging markets (2). As such, between 1980 to 2007, the population of the US grew by an average of 1.1% per year. Thus, the population grew from around 227 million in 1980 to 302 million in 2007. A simple extrapolation based on current growth trends will put the US population at around 440 million by 2050 (refer to figure 1.1). It is not simply the size of the population but also its composition that is very important, especially the percentage of the senior population. According to the 2000 census, the population of 65-and-older was estimated to be 35 million in the US. This translates to around 12.7 % of the total population but will rise to almost 20% of the population by 2050. As the population grows older, the health care system will face higher demand since senior citizens suffer from more chronic illness and require more medical attention than any other age group (refer to figure 1.3). In other words, the higher the price (sacrifice) the fewer people will be willing to purchase it. This also applies the other way around: the more people are willing to obtain a good or service, the more they are willing to sacrifice or pay. However, changes in the price of a good will result in a change along the demand curve while other factors (such as aging of the population) will push the demand curve to the right. Demand itself, its determined by various factors such as the price of the product, the price of substitutes and alternatives, consumers income, consumer’s tastes, and other individual and environmental factors.
